The Pilot

  1. THE PILOT - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. It appears in the paperback book, "Destinies 3".

When the editor received this drawing he phoned and asked me if "the pilot," a woman, was really connected to the ship that way in the story? I said "yes, in order to perform the commands given it by the pilot at the control console, which includes severe maneuvers in space and warp-space while also changing shielding armor, weapons systems, control room gravity, etc. etc. the ship's circuitry is connected to the pilot's most sensitive parts of her body.

Those probes, connected to every orifice on her body, allow the ship's computer to "see" how her body and mind are reacting to all the actions and reactions going on during a battle in space. With that information it can avoid doing something harmful to her while making all those maneuvers".

The editor answered, "OK!" and hung up.
